Pixel Pusher // Crypto Winter

There was an explosion of interest in digital art due to the invention of NFTs. I love the obsession over .jpegs, right-clicking, and digital labor rights. This project is my attempt to describe my 20-year studio process as a digital artist. Deconstructing the artist's studio and laying bare its instruments, formats, and physical constraints have always been core to locating the site of the artist's labor in their artwork, a process only made less clear in regards to AI and Generative art. I would argue that nothing and everything has changed. In this video, my virtual studio is rendered over a 3D cornfield. In my culture, we only tell stories when it is their time to not tempt the corn spirits lest they lose focus on creating a good harvest. 2022
